Best Season for Annapurna Base Camp Trek With Helicopter Return
The best season for the Annapurna flyout trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Here is more detailed information on both of these seasons.
Spring Season
The spring season lasts from March until May. In this season, the route is steady, the flowers bloom profusely, the rivers swell and form spectacular cascades, and the temperatures are moderate.
Trekking in this season offers better views, and a clearer sky is also available in the spring; however, occasionally fog might be seen at lower elevations. The trekking route gets crowded as it is one of the peak seasons for trekking in the Annapurna region.
During the day, temperatures range from 15°C–20°C (59°F–68°F) in the lower elevations and 5°C–15°C (41°F–59°F) in the higher elevations. However, the nights might still get chilly with the temperatures ranging from 5°C–10°C (41°F–50°F) in the lower elevations and -5°C to -15°C (23°F to 5°F) in the higher elevations.
Autumn Season
The autumn season is another best season for the Annapurna base camp trek with helicopter return, which lasts from September until November. During this season, the routes are no longer small rivers, the days are warm, and visibility is excellent.
Autumn is one of the safer seasons for trekking to the Annapurna Circuit because of the lower temperatures, less mud on the mountainsides, reduced chance of avalanches, and well-packed routes.
During the day, temperatures range from 12-21°C (54-70°F) in the lower elevations and 5-12°C (41-54°F) in the higher elevations. However, the nights might still get chilly, with temperatures ranging from 7-12°C (45-54°F) in the lower elevations to 0-5°C (32-41°F) in the higher elevations.
Permits Required for Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return
Permits are required, as they provide you with authorization to enter the Annapurna region. For your ABC trek with helicopter return, you need two major permits: the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).
Please note that we have included the charges for these permits in our cost, and our team members will take these permits for you so that you can have a smooth and hassle-free trek. Here is some brief information regarding these permits.
Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS)
TIMS, alias, increases the safety of all trekkers in Nepal. Your name and travel itinerary will be added to the system as soon as the cost is paid. In addition to helping local authorities plan sustainability initiatives in specific locations, this permit will be useful for rescue operations in the case of emergencies during your trek.
Not just for the Annapurna Circuit, but for most treks in Nepal, a TIMS card is required. For us to get your TIMS card, we require a photocopy of your passport and two passport-sized photos. The cost of a TIMS card is NPR 2,000, which is equivalent to 17 USD.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
This permit was created specifically for the Annapurna Region. The permit and the amount you have to pay help to preserve the area. To get an ACAP permit, you'll need your passport and two additional passport pictures.
To get your ACAP, you need to fill out a form with information on your insurance, your intended trekking route, and your itinerary. The cost of ACAP is NPR 3,000, which is equivalent to 30 USD.
