2 Days Poon Hill Trek Route 

This trek starts in Pokhara. From Pokhara, we take road transportation to Ulleri. From Ulleri, we start trekking towards Ghorepani, crossing the villages of Banthanti and Nangge Thanti.

The trail is filled with stone-paved paths, clusters of settlements and hotels, pony rearing, terrace land, taps, springs, cascades, and huts. This trek is so simple and calculated that a person with normal physical (health) conditions and a time limit can easily perform it. There will be no trouble on the way at all. One will be able to take in the Nepali village experience with local Nepali food, local Nepali wine, and Nepali hospitality.

Note: As the trek begins from Pokhara, trekkers should be in Pokhara to start the journey. If you're in Kathmandu and want to do the Ghorepani poon hill trek from Pokhara, don't worry! There are two ways to get there.

You can either take a quick flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara or go by road. The road journey takes about 6 hours, but sometimes there might be delays due to road blockages, political strikes, accidents, or bad weather. So, plan accordingly and get ready for an amazing adventure in Ghorepani!

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Ulleri and Trek to Ghorepani

Early in the morning, with breakfast, we start our journey to Ghorepani from Pokhara. We take a vehicle from Pokhara directly to Ulleri. Reaching Ulleri is followed by trekking through the rough and chilling trail.

On the way, we observe bamboo, pine, oak, spruce forest, clusters of the settlement of locals, stone-paved ways, cascades, wooden and metal taps, and many more. After entering the Ghorepani Poon Hill Gate, we walk for another 10 to 20 minutes and reach the destination hotel, where we spend the night. Stay overnight at a Nepali-style hotel in Ghorepani.

Day 2: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Ulleri to Pokhara

Early in the morning, at around 04:30 AM, we start our day. We wake up, freshen up and start strolling towards Ghorepani Poon Hill. We walked up for around an hour and reached the Poon Hill Viewpoint. While climbing up via a stone pathway, we cross the Poonhill gateway and a mobile tower station.

On our arrival at Poonhill, we spend around 15 to 20 minutes there for beautiful sunrise views on mountain peaks, photos, videos and amazing moments at such a height of 3,210 metres. Afterward, we descend for about 30 minutes and reach the hotel. We have breakfast, pack our bags and start moving towards Tikhedhunga. From Tikhedhunga, we catch transportation and drive further towards Pokhara.

Some Useful Informations

Foods during the trek 

While you are on this trek in Nepal, different cuisines of foods are offered to you. Some available ones are Continental, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and local Nepali delicacies.

The guide will suggest the specialties and unique foods of the specific place where you will stay. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods are available and will be offered as per demand. You will have breakfast and dinner at the same hotel, as per the halt there. Lunch will be taken at the trail-side hotel and restaurants.

Accommodations during the trek

Accommodation will be provided at the best and most selected hotel or lodge. Hotels will offer rooms on a twin-sharing basis. But a private room can also be enjoyed, but at an extra cost.

Teahouse/lodge rooms accommodate comfortable beds, electricity, charging ports for charging small appliances, blankets, and clothes' hangers. Likewise, teahouse centres have a dining room, lounge, fireplace, equipped bathroom, hot water service, and so on.

The best time to do this short trek

As trekking in Nepal can be done in all seasons, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek for 2 days is likewise accessible throughout the year. Nepal has four seasons: autumn, winter, spring, and monsoon (summer). In autumn, the climate remains moderate with the slower breeze and lightly gazing sun. In winter, the climate remains colder, with strolling clouds and fog, but mornings are familiar enough to offer a pristine view of the Himalayas.

Physical fitness required for this trek

There is no special requirement for fitness during this trekking experience. But the one with walking and hiking experience is eligible for it. It is because the trail goes straight upwards and downwards. It pressurises the leg muscles that may become problematic.

Hence, one should be able to walk along the footstep of the guide to cover the designated trail for the day. People with health situations like high blood pressure, asthma, and other illnesses are likely to have special hospital prescriptions.

Altitude Sickness during this 2-day trek
