Difficulty Level of the Trek

This trek is considered a challenging one that requires a high level of physical endurance and stamina. Our trekking routes include most of the highest landmarks of Everest regions, like Everest base camp , Kalapatthar, Gokyo, and Cho La Pass. Even though the trek is very difficult, it is equally interesting and worthy.

During the trek, you will reach one of the highest points, which is 5545 meters at Kala Patthar. The trekkers may find this challenging due to the intense exposure to high-altitude weather. Some might even get the symptoms of altitude sickness like headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath. You shouldn't worry, though, because we're prepared. We also have included acclimatization days for you to adjust to the weather.

This trip is also difficult because it takes you over glaciers and along rock paths. The Cho La Pass is especially challenging because of its elevation at 5,420 meters high. Trekkers may have to traverse icy, dangerous parts of this pass. They may also need crampons or poles for support. The path is well-marked and follows famous trekking routes, but you must be mentally and physically prepared for physical challenges, unpredictable weather, and elevation changes.

You will arrive in Kathmandu after several hours of flight. You will be heartily welcomed by our representative and then you will be transferred to your booked hotel in Kathmandu. Following the check-in process, you can relax before our representative takes you to Thamel for the purchase of trekking equipment and gear. Once your shopping is complete, we will transfer you to our office for a trek overview.

After having a delicious breakfast at your hotel and completing the check-out procedure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lukla, from where you will embark on your astonishing journey of the EBC trek via Gokyo & Cholo Pass with Heli return. During the flight, if you are lucky enough, you will be able to observe beautiful Himalayas.

After landing in Lukla Airport, your foot journey towards Phakding will start. Along the way, you will be able to witness the Dudhkoshi River, lush trees, and past through the charming Sherpa Community. Overnight at teahouse.

You will depart Phakding on the second day of the hike and head towards the colorful and energetic Namche Bazaar. The trail highlights a peak of the beautiful scenery that lies ahead as it winds through charming rhododendron trees and passes the Dudh Koshi River suspension bridges.

You'll see the majestic Thamserku and Kongde Ri peaks and other Himalayan giants for the first time as you ascend. Tucked deep in the Himalayas, Namche Bazaar is a lively Sherpa village with a breathtaking backdrop of the world's tallest peaks.

Namche Bazaar for acclimatization provides the appropriate balance of contemporary conveniences and cultural immersion, making it a wonderful spot to unwind, restock, and visit the regional markets. Upon Reaching Namche, you will stay in teahouses and rest for the day.

A crucial part of high-altitude trekking is acclimatization. We adapt to the altitude and air pressure to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.

During your leisure time, you can explore the village, explore the Sherpa museum, learn about Sherpa culture, and visit the Khumjung Monastery. Additionally, from your hotel, you will have a glimpse of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and other mountains. Overnight at the teahouses.

Today you will leave behind the astonishing Namche Bazar for the journey of Dole. The trek offers a mesmerizing combination of expansive mountain views and quaint local communities as you climb higher into the Himalayas.

The trail winds through alpine scenery and rhododendron woods, offering a tranquil and absorbing experience in the embrace of nature. After 6-7 hours of walking, you will reach the door. Overnight at teahouses.

Stepping out of Dole, you will ascend to stunning meadows where yaks congregate on the fifth day of the EBC Trek via Gokyo with Helicopter Return. Aside from colorful prayer flags, you will also see some interesting shrines.
You will follow the Dudh Kosi Valley as you continue your ascent. Although it's an easy walk, the altitude could still affect you on even the smallest hill.
With very few plants and shrubs in the alpine terrain, this area has a very different landscape. It stands in stark contrast to the gorgeous snow-capped peaks and the clear blue sky overhead.
You will reach Luza (4360 m) after approximately two hours, and it will only take you an additional hour of walking to reach Machhermo (4465 m), where you will spend the night at the teahouse.

The journey continues as you hike from Machhermo to the enchanted destination of Gokyo on the sixth day of the voyage. The walk takes you through amazing scenery that changes dramatically as you go from alpine meadows to the immaculate Gokyo Lake tucked away behind towering rocks.
Ascending offers ever-more amazing scenery, as you remain in awe of nature's majesty with every step you take. The trail offers a chance to fully experience the unspoiled splendor of the Himalayas, offering both calm and thrilling experiences.
Approaching the charming Gokyo Valley, perched at the edge of a serene lake and encircled by towering mountains that appear to reach the sky, is undoubtedly the highlight of the entire journey. Overnight at the hotel.

We have scheduled this day of the EBC Trek via Gokyo with a Helicopter Return as an acclimatization day. To enjoy the breathtaking dawn and a panoramic view of the entire Khumbu region, you will travel early in the morning to Gokyo Ri, a famous peak above Gokyo Valley.
You will enjoy an increasingly breathtaking perspective of Nepal's tallest peaks, such as Everest, Makalu, Barun, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse, the higher you ascend. You will enjoy the tranquility of Thonak Tsho, the fourth lake, and then follow the path back to the third lake.
If permits and physical conditions allow, you can also hike to the fifth lake, the longest glacier in the Himalayas, Ngozumba Glacier, and spend the night back in Gokyo.

You will resume your EBC Trek via Gokyo with Helicopter Return today toward Thangnak, completing a day of acclimatization in Gokyo Valley. As you proceed on your walk, you will encounter Ngozumpa Glacier.
The route is shorter and gains only a small amount of elevation, but it is full of ups and downs. Strolling through the valley on the eastern side of the glacial moraine is unquestionably magnificent and gorgeous.
Tawache and Cholatse peaks will be directly beside you. Trekkers can easily reach Cho-La High Pass from Dragnag Village, situated next to Ngozumpa Glacier in a tranquil area.

Your hike today will be quite difficult, as you will be crossing the challenging Cho La Pass, a high mountain pass. From the start, everything will be uphill for Cho La Pass, i.e., Thangnak. Be careful not to slip on the incline, because the trail is extremely steep and covered in rocks.

A snow wonderland and breathtaking vistas of the towering Himalayan range await you when you ascend Cho La Pass. After that, you will descend sharply and stroll next to a glacier.

Ascending the trail will bring you to the foot of Awi Peak, where you can descend its lower slope. Get ready to be in complete amazement at the breathtaking vistas of Tawoche and Cholatse, two of the Himalayan giants.

You will arrive in Dzongla and spend the night there as you continue across the snowy terrain that gives way to verdant grasslands.

The tenth day of the EBC Trek via Gokyo with Helicopter Return unfolds as you continue your trip from Dzongla. You will climb higher still to reach the Khumbu glacier's perilous moraine.

You stroll past a series of memorial stone monuments honoring Sherpas and climbers who lost their lives during Everest mountaineering expeditions. The trail then heads west along the valley's western rim, dropping down to Lobuche. From this viewpoint, seeing the sunset over Nuptse is simply breathtaking.

Unlike the day before, the climb to Lobuche will be enjoyable, and you will travel with Imja Khola to the summit. Traveling to Lobuche will require four hours.

You will start your journey to Everest Base Camp early this morning. Trekking via the Khumbu Glacier's deep crevasses and icy peaks will take several hours. Rest assured, though; before hitting the path again, you will enjoy a brief lunch break. You can reach Gorakshep by following the trail.

The real accomplishment, though, comes from reaching Everest Base Camp at last. That's when you start to genuinely admire those courageous climbers who successfully navigate the treacherous Khumbu Icefall.

Particularly in the spring and fall, vibrant tents stand out against drab, gray surroundings. The views of the Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori mountains are breathtaking from the Everest Base Camp.

You can choose a higher route on the way back to have an even greater perspective of the South Col trail and the Khumbu icefall. Once you've had enough time to enjoy yourself on the Everest Base Camp, you'll return to Gorakshep and spend the night relaxing.

Get up early and head to the best viewpoint in the Everest Region, Kala Patthar, to start your day. This location also denotes the highest point you will climb on your journey.

You will witness a magnificent 360-degree vista that showcases Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Changtse. You will take a helicopter ride back to Kathmandu, leaving Gorakshep with amazing views of the mysterious mountains in the distance. During the flight, take in the breathtaking mountain ranges up close.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan Airport's domestic terminal, we will take you straight to the hotel. Spend the day unwinding and letting your sore muscles rest. One of the best hotels in Thamel is where you will spend the night.

As a preventive measure, one buffer day will lessen the impact of any flight delays or cancellations due to unanticipated circumstances during your EBC Trek via Gokyo with Helicopter Return.

This extra day serves as a safety net, giving hikers a chance to deal with changes to their itinerary without unnecessary anxiety or difficulty.

Trekkers can handle unforeseen obstacles with more flexibility and peace of mind when they include a buffer day in their itinerary since they will have a little breathing space to change plans or find alternatives if needed.

Since this is your last day in Nepal, it's your last chance to shop and enjoy exploring the valley's cultural hub, Kathmandu. Three hours before your flight departure, we will drop you off at the airport.

Our team guides, porters and accompanying staff are locals with a broad knowledge about each and every location that we travel through.

                                Food

When you're trekking in the Himalayas, food is important because it keeps you full and gives you energy. During your trip, you won't have to worry about where to get food or how to pay extra money because our trek package covers all of your meals. There will be three meals a day, which is enough to keep you going on the journey.

There are a lot of different Nepalese and Tibetan meals, so everyone can find something they like. Kathmandu, you can get any kind of food you want. There will be varieties of food options, from authentic Nepali to western cuisine. However, during the trekking journey in the mountain, the option for food will be limited.

For breakfast, you might get porridge, eggs, toast, or pancakes. For lunch and dinner, you'll probably eat dal bhat (traditional rice and lentils), noodles, soups, pasta, stews, or momo (dumplings). The vegetables come from nearby farms, and many lodges serve hearty soups and baked bread, which are great for staying warm in the cold mountain air.

Whether you're at a teahouse by the Gokyo Lakes or crossing the dramatic Cho La Pass, the food will not only fill you up but also teach you about the culture of the Himalayas. All of the meals are made from scratch, so they meet the nutritional needs of trekkers and give them a healthy, real experience.

                                Accommodation

Your lodging on the trail from Kathmandu to the Himalayas is meticulously crafted and included in the package price. We will pre-book the accommodations on your behalf, so you need not worry about your lodging during the trip.

Before and after your trip, you will spend time in a nice hotel in Kathmandu. These hotels in the center of the city provide pleasant stays with well equipped rooms, luxury conveniences, and friendly personnel. Here you may utilize Wi-Fi, hot showers, and occasionally spa treatments to help you relax after a difficult trek or get ready for a demanding journey.

The trip will include stays in teahouses, which are Nepal's traditional mountain lodgings. You can get a basic but real Himalayan experience at teahouses. They are simple but useful. The rooms often have shared bathrooms with two people, and while they are not extravagant, they are clean and comfortable. As you go up in elevation, you should bring your own sleeping bag, even though most teahouses have blankets and warm beds.

Some people use teahouses for more than just sleeping. You can also meet other walkers, grab a hot meal by the fire, and relax. Your memories of the warm weather and stunning mountain views will last a lifetime as you walk through the Gokyo Valley, across the Cho La Pass, and get closer to Everest Base Camp.

                                Permits

For security and safety reasons, the trek requires several permits. Luckily, our package includes all required permits, so you don't need to bother about obtaining one. The following permits are needed for the hike:

                                • The Sagarmatha National Park Permit is required for access into the national park, which is home to Mount Everest and a diverse diversity of flora and fauna. It preserves the environment and resources.
                                • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit: A local permit is necessary for trekking in the Khumbu region. Tourism management and community support are its responsibilities.
                                • A TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card is required for all trekkers in Nepal. It monitors trekkers and ensures their safety.
                                • The hike includes a helicopter return from Gorak Shep, which requires specific permission for the flight.

                                Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is required for the remote, high-altitude Gokyo Cho La Pass EBC Trek with Helicopter Return. You need this insurance to cover medical emergencies, altitude sickness, accidents, and helicopter evacuation, which can be expensive in Everest.

Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, and Everest Base Camp are high-altitude treks up to 5,500 meters (18,000 feet), thus your insurance should cover them. Your coverage should include emergency helicopter evacuation, especially because the last part of the hike involves a helicopter return to Kathmandu.

Insurance should also cover trip cancellations, delays, stolen or damaged possessions, and medical expenses. Health insurance is essential because the hike is isolated and medical facilities are limited. Make sure your insurance provider knows the trek's altitude and regions before you go to avoid problems in an emergency.
